dadaSoul are 2 musical brothers (Damo and Des) who formed a writing and recording partnership back in 2007 having previously played in a variety of bands in the north and southwest of England. Their multi genre approach fuses soul, rap and spoken word with folk, rock, pop, hip hop, and jazz but they’re less inclined to hide behind definitives preferring a natural approach to music production and song writing.
dadaSoul state that the spirit of Dadaism is to explore, subvert and, in so doing, enlighten the consciousness. “Music should take you on a journey. A journey that poses a multitude of questions. Some completely absurd others sound and reassuring. When all said and done, you draw your own conclusions because we all have and share a variety of experiences.”
Their music has been compared to the likes of Elbow and Tricky and certainly has something of the Massive Attack vibe about it. What you hear is fast syncopated rap. Spoken word phonemes spat over the top of pulsating rhythms. Soulful chorus anthems epitomising the splendour of blues and jazz riffs.
